Ø Tunis Re : Performances of the Year 2016


The Board of Directors of Tunis Re met on April 27, 2017, approved the financial statements for the financial year 2016 and examined the company's activity on December 31st, 2016.


The highlights having marked the year 2016 are summarized as follows:


• A significant growth of premiums by 13%, reaching 113.4 million Dinars;

• An important increase in the retention rate by four points to reach 61% against 57% in 2015;

• An increase of 11% in technical provisions;

• An improvement in the net technical result of 2.3% from 13,990 MTD to 14,310 MTD in 2016;

• An improvement in the Combined Ratio to reach 90.5% in 2016 against 91.6% in 2015;

• A net change in investment income by 25% compared to the year 2015.

• An overall surplus of 15,905 million Dinars, being an improvement of 10% over the previous year.


This result has been impacted by an exceptional contribution of the State, which raised the tax rate from 35% to 42.5%. By neutralizing this increase, the result would be 17.468 MTD up by 21% and with an achievement rate of 107%.


The Board of Directors decided to convene an Ordinary General Meeting on June, 2nd 2017 at 11.30 am at the Palace Gamarth Hotel and to propose the distribution of 0.500 Dinars per share as dividend for the financial year 2016.

The Société Tunisienne de Réassurance "Tunis Re” will hold its Ordinary General Assembly on June 2nd, 2017 at the "Palace" hotel - Gammarth, Tunis.
